My parents had recently recieved some information from a man who's grandson is autistic and anyone who has a child with Autism or Aspergers Syndrome, knows how damn fussy they are with eating. They don't always get the proper nutrition. This list my parents had recieved has the proper vitamins and mineral suppliments for children with this problem. So, here it is!
This is what to give daily:
1 - Cod Liver Oil
1 - Salmon Oil (Containing Omega 3)
1 - Formula IV (Multi-Vitamin)
1 - Super B
1 - Teaspoon Powdered C, 4 X a day
1 - Chelated Calcium-Magnesium Tablets
1 - Chelated Zinc
1 - Acidophilus Plus
On the off days of the TD-DMPS:
1 - Cruciferous Plus
1 - Flavonoid Complex
1 - Carotenoid Complex
With each mean 1 Beta Gest (Helps to break down proteins) and 1 Enzyme Digestive Aid (helps to break down fats and carbs).
The boy is 6 years old and weighs 50lbs.

Re: Nutrition
Fri, August 17, 2007 - 2:14 PMHow are you supposed to get all of this "stuff" into the picky eater? A six year old who weighs 50 lbs is obviously not eating much, don't think they would swallow pills or eat something with weird tasting powders mixed in. -

Re: Nutrition
Tue, August 21, 2007 - 1:37 PMYeah....I've got to note that my kid would be gagging and dry heaving (if not outright vomitting) from trying to eat any one of those things...let alone the whole list daily. If I even tried it I'l be on the receiving end of a fit that would include a mushroom cloud.
Gummy vitamins have done pretty well for us. -

Tue, August 21, 2007 - 8:57 PMI'm thinking you can get this stuff in liquid form or chewable tablets. My 7 year old takes his grape flavored chewable Acidophilus and takes his cod liver oil and his liquid multi vitamin brilliantly. -

Re: Nutrition
Tue, August 21, 2007 - 8:58 PMOh he also has animal gummi vites. I get everything from a health vitamin store so it's all natural and no additives in them. I find that frutose corn syrup and the dyes they put in foods are horrendous! -

Re: Nutrition
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 9:36 AMHigh fructose corn syrup is the fifth horseman of the apocolypse. Does he take multiple gummies every day? My boy can tolerate getting about three of them down before he refuses.
He *loves* the vitamin gumballs though...I can get him to chew those with no trouble at all. -

Tue, September 4, 2007 - 7:31 PMYeah, my sons both take these animal chewable vites. You can only get them at a special health store. They love em

Re: Nutrition
Mon, September 3, 2007 - 5:36 AMThis sounds like a combination specifically designed to compliment chelation therapy. These supplements are all useful, but chelation therapy gives additional strain on the detox and mineral requirements of your child. I have found that stable application of supplements is critical to avoid the roller coaster effect of infrequent high doses on my son. For example, 1tsp powdered C 4 times daily is enough to give the runs to any child that hasn't worked up bowel tolerance. I use combination formula that my son will readily accept that doesn't have the issues of forcing him to take tablets that is produced by BrainChild Nutritionals. www.brainchildnutritionals.com/Br...tml It has really helped me reduce meltdown/freakout periods, and I've noticed that bedtime routing goes much more smoothly. Great items on this list though, especially the fish oils, minerals (cal mag zinc), and probiotics.

Tue, September 4, 2007 - 7:30 PMWell right now both of my boys get a multivitamin, codliver oil and acidophilus. Thank you for the link! I'll look this over.

Fri, September 14, 2007 - 11:21 PMI learned to cook for myself... It's true, I take in way too many carbohydrates, but that's fine, I end up using them somehow.
The only thing I take as a supplement is a daily vitamin, but that's smart for anyone, I would think.

Re: Nutrition
Mon, January 7, 2008 - 8:58 AMI give my autistic/adhd son a kids multi-vitamin daily as well as some DHA/Omega oil lozenges that are flavored for kids to take and I feed him a high protein/mostly meat diet which has been helping a lot ... no flour if I can help it, no high fructose corn syrup (baddd)
no caffeine !

Re: Nutrition
Mon, January 14, 2008 - 1:15 AMI'm an adult with Asperger's Syndrome. And many years ago someone told me that if I reduced or eliminated processed sugars like what you find in candy bars for example, that my concentration would dramatically improve. And I was told to get more sugar from natural sources like fruits for example. And this has been very helpful over the years.

Re: Nutrition
Sun, February 10, 2008 - 8:10 PMMy youngest son was recently diagnosed with PDD.
But I have had trouble with him being a picky eater as well.
On occasion I can get him to take a few bites of veggies.
But most times he refuses to eat them.
I have been limiting my kids having candy.
I am trying to do more healthy alternatives.
Like Cereal bars, fruit, sunflower seeds, trail mixes.
But I know how hard it is to get a picky eater to get those much needed nutrients in them.
